Elderly cat insurance

We’re hoping to acquire some new rescue cats. However they are seniors 10+, so I know getting insurance will be tricky. I’m pretty sure Petplan won’t touch us so wondered if anyone has experience of the specialist senior cat insurers? Do they actually pay out or do they just have you over a barrel and it’s as cheap just to put some money aside each month. Our 16 yr old was costing us £60 a month with total illness cover on Petplan (we got him when he was 8) max £3k payout per year. We were just winning out on costs towards the end. So I’m genuinely not sure if the insurance is worth it…..

Our elderly cat isn’t insured - the premiums were ridiculous and it’s been much cheaper to put money aside as “pay as we go”.

We insured our elderly cat with Morethan for around £30 a month on the basic policy. They paid out without any issues in full when he got a tumour in his jaw and had to have investigations under anaesthetic and subsequent treatment

Thanks, looks like the younger two are covered with PetPlan by the shelter, we visited today, now awaiting the home check! So who knows we may have one or three, the lady who runs the shelter is desperate to get the older poorly cat homed.
