Cat chewing drawer handles

Our cat, 3 years old ginger male, has started chewing the knobs on my chest of drawers (photo of damage attached!). He woke us up during the night chewing away so we are rather grumpy this morning. Any ideas on how to stop him?

He’s always been a chewer of things he shouldn’t like elastic, ribbons and wool but he has obviously diversified in his tastes. We’ve had him since he was a kitten and he’s mostly an indoor cat because he doesn’t like hot, cold, wind or rain or outdoor noises. Cat tax also attached.

Hi Op,
I would perhaps take him to Vets for a check up to rule out any issues with his teeth or gums for him to be biting.
He could be bored does he have plenty of toys and scratching posts etc.

yes, a vet trip might be an idea. He had his annual check-up quite recently but given he’s started this behaviour over the past few weeks it would be worth having another visit.

he’s got loads of toys and scratching posts but I’ve just remembered I got some new chewy things so I’ll look those out and see what he thinks of them.

Definitely the vets - he might be in pain.
