I posted on another thread the other day about my 13yo cat with hyperthyroidism. She’s 2.7kg down from 5.5kg in a few months, she is ravenous, vet said her heart rate is 320 when it should be more like 180… and yet since I made the decision to euthanise her she seems a bit happier! Still skinny, still ravenous, having so gastric issues but I suspect that’s because she’s having several favourite pouches every day…. But in herself she’s fine - apart from crying a lot at night and waking me up around 4am for breakfast!!

Her appointment is tomorrow… and I feel really conflicted about it. We can’t afford and insurance doesn’t cover the treatment so that’s not an option.

WWYD?

If you can't afford the treatment then sadly I'd PTS 😞

Bless her, it does sound as is her quality of life has declined. They do say better a week too early than a day too late, I know it’s such a heartbreaking decision but also one of kindness. I think it probably is time 🐾💔

Let her go out while she’s happy, not ill and miserable.

Go through with it whilst you’ve got the appointment before the weekend OP. I had an appointment for the Wednesday for a vet to come to the house, cancelled it as I kept telling myself ‘but he’s still eating and coming for treats and cuddles!’ By the Sunday he was so, so unwell that it would’ve been horrendously cruel to even wait until the next day so I ended up having to drive him an hour to the nearest emergency vets - not the calm end I wanted for him at all. I now fully understand why people say rather too early than too late. He just completely changed within a day or two and now that’s my lasting image of my gorgeous boy Sad Love to you all. Flowers

I’ve just found a picture of her a year or so ago - she was a big fat butterball! Today she is skinny, I can feel her ribs and hips when I stroke her 😢

picture under the bed yesterday, picture on tiled floor about a year ago.

She passed yesterday morning at the vet. It was all so calm and peaceful. Very sad, but also the right choice 🌈

Ah I am sorry to hear that, rest in peace dear pusscat. So hard at the end but you made the kindest choice. 🐾💔🐾

I’m so sorry, you have done the best thing for her though. Hard as it must feel now.
