Collar saviour

My cat has extra bells on her collar but she's still able to catch prey. Mainly mice and shrews but she did catch a bird and kill it, leaving it by my bed. I am wondering if there is something like a sound waves collar so they poor things get warning and get away? Or any other ideas that would help.

I know it's nature. I know they'll still hunt. I just want to try and limit the deaths.

If the bells aren’t working, the only way to truly limit the kills may be to keep her indoors or build her a catio. Having said that, and at the risk of sounding like a lunatic, my cat was bringing in mouse after mouse (live ones) and I literally sat him down and said “DC, I know that you love me and want to bring me gifts, but from now on, would you please not do this anymore. No more mice okay?” This was a year and a half ago and he has NOT brought me a mouse, but he has twice brought in a mouse for the cat sitter when we are away. Worth a shot Grin

There’s nothing you can really do to stop them hunting unless you physically limit their time outside or build a catio.

I'm afraid you do sound like a lunatic - but this is still the best post I've read here in weeks 🤣

I have also told the cats no more gifts but maybe I need to sound more grateful and less cross?! Apparently when they bring you a live I resent it is because they think you are ready to be trained to hunt. I have told them several times I don't want to learn, I'm not ready!
