Cat not eating

My 7yo cat who is usually as greedy as they come has not eaten properly since Monday. We were away at the weekend and came home to 2 small vomits, then she was sick twice more on Tuesday. She’s generally a quite sicky cat so I wasn’t too worried until Tuesday evening when she refused food. On Wednesday I took her to the vets, she was given an antiemetic injection and a weeks worth of cat ranitidine. Thursday she seemed a bit better and ate some chicken and biscuits. Today she has barely eaten and was sick again, we went back to the vets and she’s had some bloods. Both vets couldn’t find anything unusual when they examined her. She’s pooing normal poos. She’s lost 200g between Wednesday and today and she seems quiet. I thought she felt warm but her temperature is on the higher side of normal.

She is quite a sensitive cat - certain foods make her vomit so she’s wheat free. She’s on gabapentin for hyperesthesia, I’ve given her doses as normal.

She is worrying me, has anyone got any advice? She hasn’t been outside all week so I don’t think she’s eaten anything unusual.

Aww bless her. Will she have lick e lix?

poor soul. i hope shes better soon.

I don’t have any lik e lix to try. She ate a cat stick earlier and didn’t keep it down. She’s had a few more biscuits but refused chicken and tuna again. I tried her with some malt paste earlier and had to rub it on her paws to get it into her.
She looks so sorry for herself Sad

Aww so worrying. I literally posted about this this week with my boy! Totally refused to eat, luckily wasn't sick. Turned out to be nothing and he is back to being a pain in the bum. Hopefully she feels better soon.

How’s your cat now?

I have a cat with kidney failure and she goes through periods of not eating. Try boiling a chicken breast in about 2 cms water in a small milk sized pan, cut it up in chunks while it's simmering. Then offer just a small amount of further ripped up chicken but with a few tablespoons of water. It can help settle tummies, as well as rehydrate them.
Make sure all meals are offered warm, it makes it smell better and it also stays in the tummy easier than cold food.

Then, I think further tests back at the vet is needed if things don't start to improve. I think max of not eating for a cat is 3 days, then their bodies start to do bad things. I presume all medicines are up to date, worming and vaccines? Gabapentin can cause sickness and lack of appetite in cats too, is it safe to stop giving it for a couple of days, see if appetite improves? Ask the vet too to check the heart, heart failure can cause vomiting, feeling sick and lack of appetite. Often overlooked in a relatively young cat aged 7.

Good luck OP, it's a horrid thing to watch them go through and so worrying.
