Clingy Kitten

My beautiful old cat passed away this June and in October we adopted two bonded kittens. One acts just like a regular cat the other is a total love bug. He climbs your legs to get to you, puts his paws on your face and nibbles your nose. All adorable. However, just lately he seems unable to fall asleep unless he is with me. They both nap in the afternoon and whereas the other one will find a comfy chair or bed and curl up this one cries and paws at my legs until I sit down where he promptly curls up on my lap and falls asleep. Obviously this is impractical but I feel so guilty ignoring him. I have had cats all my life and never experienced this. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks

Can you give him a jumper that smells of you to nap on? Try some feliway in case he's anxious?

Hell grow out of it. I'm surprised you can sit still for long enough. Kittens sleep about 14 hours a day!

Aww that's so cute. My cat used to make me carry him to go to sleep. He grew out of it after 6 or 8 months

Thanks all. I say they’re kittens they are around 6 months old. I recently badly broke my collarbone and wasn’t able to do much so maybe he got used to me sitting around.

Can’t you get a sling and carry the sweet baby around? That’s what I would do 😻 joking! Or, wait until he falls asleep and then gently move him?

Yes - once he’s fallen asleep I can gently move him but just like a baby I have to make sure he’s fully asleep or he just wakes up and it all starts again 🤣

Maybe he's heat-seeking? A heated pad might help.

Goodness that lovely black kitten looks like he’s planning something (global domination?)

I recommend either a feather & down gillet to zip him close to your chest or a puppy sling.

Can't really give you any advice as I've been sitting here for 2 hours, desperate for a drink, but can't move until little mini mog decides to wake up 🙄. DH has kindly provided snacks but no juice 😆.

Omg they are so adorable!! My grey and white girl is now 2 and she’s really clingy. She follows me around like a shadow and waits for me to go to bed. As soon as I get up to start going to bed she’s rushing around me getting excited for bedtime 😅

@DuchessDandelion @HamSandwichKiller - the black one is Pumpkin. He is super independent but still enjoys a good cuddle…on his terms!!

My cat is like this ,comes down around 9pm to tell me it’s bedtime and does this when I get into bed
