Cat calming plug in- odour

The agency we're adopting our kittens from has given us a Feliway- type plug in and I've dutifully, as directed, activated it in preparation for collecting them later today.
now my kitchen smells unpleasant, it's like a stale odour. Is this normal? How soon can I get rid of this device?

I’ve never noticed any smell from felliway at all, but I may not have a finely tuned nose 🤷‍♀️

I think it usually takes a cat around a month or so to settle, depending on the individual.

You could try pet remedy instead. These pheromone plugs in really do work for helping cats settle. Pet remedy is valerian based. It does have a distinctive smell but you get used to it and a month should be fine.

I can't bear the smell of valerian and yes it smells like cat pee to me.

I've just got a Feliway one. No smell at all but hasn't seemed to have any effect on either cat!?

Hmm. Maybe it's all a con?

Feliway I can’t smell as it is cat pheromones and feliway has good quality studies behind it.
