Cat with loose stools and behaviour change.

Please help as I am in despair,

So cat 2 has been with us since she was 10 weeks old. She’s now 12.5 yrs old .

from September onwards she has had loose stools. Initially these were bad enough that she had a dirty bottom. We saw the vet, had blood tests done etc which were all satisfactory and they put it down to a GI infection for which she had antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory.

since then it’s continued…never quite as bad as September but still loose:

In addition she’s now not always using the litter tray to wee or poo but just going anywhere. I am scrubbing the carpet every day as 6 days out of 7 there will be a splatty poop there. She’s also weeing everywhere in the house:

I have

Added extra litter trays…one for each cat and a spare .
Changed her diet to an expensive digestive one
Added a probiotic to her food to no avail

She’s also changed where she sleeps.

Other than this….eating and drinking well, no weight loss between September anc now. Vet saw her again this week and cannot find anything obvious. We’ve now done a poo sample which was clear. The next step is a scan to rule out lymphoma but tbh apart from the loose stools I cannot see she has any other symptoms of this.

However I’ll ring the insurance company to see how much they will cover of the costs.

Any ideas?

House is beginning to smell (I think but could be paranoid) .

Not sure what to do….she’s too healthy seemingly to euthanise and it’s the last thing I want to do tbh.

I would be asking for more blood tests as sometimes things can take a while to show up.

I would also look at allergy testing as she may have become intolerant to her food.

Is she fully up to date on her flea and worming medication? Is it proper prescription strength stuff rather than shop bought?

Does she go outdoors? Is someone feeding her milk?

I’m sorry, but when my cat started suffering the symptoms of intestinal lymphoma, he started with those very familiar symptoms. His blood work came back as excellent in all areas except his white blood cell count which was only very slightly above the normal level. A minuscule amount. The ultrasound found a mass. ☹️

There is a whole thread on here about royal rain hairball dry food being good for loose stools.

Thanks all, yes all up to date with flea and worming, it come from the vet as part of her wellness package .

thank you for the tip about the hairball food. I have her on Rotal Canin digestive at the moment.

She’s not going out much and never strays from the garden as she was feral as a kitten. She remains terrified of humans (except us).

I think I’m going to go ahead with the ultrasound.
