Old cat not cleaning himself properly

My lovely boy has arthritis in his hips and his grooming has gone downhill. He is no longer able to clean his nether regions so he is a bit smelly. What can I use to wipe his bum that isn’t going to cause problems. Currently using a damp kitchen towel. Is this the best option?

Baby wipes/water wipes which you can then chuck away?

We had that with our old cat and just used warm water and a soft cloth that I could throw in the wash. Vet said not to use soap of any kind as it’s not good for them if they then do lick their fur.

A damp kitchen towel is fine. You can actually buy wipes for cleaning cats - I’ve bought them on Amazon before.

Our old lady is 21 and needs a bit more help these days too.

We get a monthly injection of Solensiia for our 16yr old cat. She is much cleaner now , however it’s expensive at £100 a month.

Is he on medication for his arthritis?
