Fairy lights

Are these dangerous to cats ? I've had my cats about a year, and did have fairy lights on the tree last year and it was fine, but is this safe ? I'm thinking about them getting tangled in them and getting choked. Are there individual lights for trees ? Also have been thinking about using real candles, watching the cats when they're near the tree and and blowing them out at night ?

Don't use real candles.
I know in sone places that's traditional but they are so dangerous. Plastic catches really quickly and real trees go up just as fast.
You're not going to blow them out evety time you leave the room eg to go to the toilet pr get something from another room.
Plus, if you're scared your cats will get into electric lights, you shouldn't have real candles anywhere near them.

We have a plastic tree. Sadly. My own cat has never shown any interest in the lights. She's never been particularly interested in climbing the tree etc either.
She will chew lower branches so we just keep the lights a bit higher up and try to stop her when we spot her.
