Cat scratching walls help!

This really, only noticed in the past few days (she could have been doing it longer) that she has been clawing the walls. Any tips for stopping them doing this?! She has scratch posts etc which she uses and goes outside!

Ours always did it to a greater or lesser extent.

Scratching post, mats and even an old tree trunk in the garden that they LOVED to scratch, they STILL felt the need to occasionally claw the walls (and stair carpet)!
Even a wooden cabinet showed signs of the occasional clawing.☹️

We put up with it because we loved them but the phrase "why can't we have ANYTHING nice" still rings in my ears, years after they have gone.😆

Zooplus sell flat scratch boards which can screw onto the wall, maybe try that? If not, lemon scent things may be a good deterrent! That only helps though if the same spot(s) are scratched I guess.

We put one of the boards as when our cat was a youngster, she'd scratch the wall by the fridge, it was her way to ask for dinner. She then could scratch as much as she likes! Never touches it now tho, as she knows dinner is always on the way.

Our gorgeous boy did this absolutely nonstop and essentially ruined every single bit of wallpaper in the house. I really wish I’d cracked down on it as a kitten to try and stop the behaviour because I just left him to it and thought he’d grow out of it - he didn’t, for the whole 20 years he lived!
We were really strict on things like him jumping on worktops or trying to get food from you and he never, ever did these again so we probably would have had success with the walls if we’d tried.

I've got cardboard (Tobias's favorite type) scratchers on a couple of walls and he uses them frequently. He also uses both cat trees and the big scratching post. Unfortunately he still has a good old go at the wallpaper in a couple of places.

What I have noticed is that it's limited to select areas - Boycat was also a wallpaper scratcher and the type of place is similar. Top of the stairs. Wall under the window that's open in the summer (with Flatcat screen). Bottom of the stairs. Boycat also liked the wall behind the sofa, I don't THINK Tobias has done there yet, at least not when I'm around but then again he never gets on that part of the sofa when I am about. Nowhere else on the rest of the living room walls, or the hall walls, or the bedroom walls. Nowhere the walls are painted, but living room, bedrooms etc are all papered yet pristine (well no scratch marks lol).

You can flat scratchers that you attach to the wall.

There's nothing my cat loves more than jumping onto somewhere high, stretching to full height, then shredding the wallpaper. He does it when I haven't done his bidding. He know it's naughty. I'm constantly surprised at how far up the wall he can reach.

We have no papered walls so this is the plaster and paint 😱 I’ve blu tacked tin foil
on where she is doing it which seems to be acting as a deterrent - we trained her out of attacking the sofa so fingers crossed this works - we also have a water pistol on hand and a new scratch post on order

I got rid of the wallpaper and just have painted walls.

All the cats I've had have scratched the wallpaper in the bedroom, usually in the middle of the night and in one cat's case to make me wake up and escort him downstairs because he didn't like the dark!
