3 cats and a dog. We have tried:

Changing and washing bed linen. Plus sofa covers.
Boil wash cat bed
Spraying prescription spray
Mopping floors with Milton
No carpet

A flea bomb. Our cats had fleas when we moved to our new house. We treated the cats with medication from the vets, washed everything, then set off the bombs and went out for a few hours. You need to make sure all pets and people are out of the house for a few hours, then ventilat the house when you're back. We got them online.

You are brilliant then you! How many per room?

Have you tried combing some of the fleas out?

Was the spray indorex?

chasingpavementsnotpayments · 23/11/2025 10:10

We did 3 consecutive months vet flea drops on back of neck plus sprayed the house with indorex - all rooms, all floors, nooks and crannies, soft furnishings, etc and then vacuumed every inch of every room daily for a week. It was exhausting. But it worked.

I think we had 2 or 3, we live in a bungalow so we just placed them around and left all the internal doors open. It does say on them what you need per square meter. They really did work.

gamerchick · 23/11/2025 10:43

I have to pull the furniture away from the walls in every room. One of use Hoover's the skirts and the other follows behind with the indorex. I do that every 6 months as well as the monthly spot on.

Flea bombs are excellent but I've got a snake so can't use them. If you can get everyone out for a bit just do that.

XiCi · 23/11/2025 10:46

We were infested a few years ago, was horrific. Tried all the things you have plus the bombs. Nothing worked until someone on here recommended Indorex. Got rid of them completely. Brilliant stuff.

Which vet prescribed treatment are you using. Fleas are becoming resistant and our clinic have found the following no longer work:
Advantage
Frontline
Advocate
Stronghold
Endectrid

The treatments that definitely work are
Nexgard
Bravecto
Felpreva
Credelio

Lovecatssowonderfullypretty · 23/11/2025 21:39

Thank you everyone!

We don’t have fleas, but I am interested to see you say Stronghold no longer works. I’ve just checked my texts from our vet and we get Stronghold Plus on prescription from them every three months (with treatment for each month in the pack obviously) at great expense!

It seems to be area specific. Even in different parts of London some treatments still work. East London fleas though are hard as ...

Timeforabitofpeace · 23/11/2025 21:51

Our cat had a injection so that fleas couldn’t breed. That helped a lot.

Concretejungle1 · 23/11/2025 21:53

Frontline does not work they are immune to it, any thing with the active ingredient fipronil
we use advantage or advocate ( same stuff but one has dewormer in).
i also sprayed all my carpets and furniture with a flea spray- Indorex
i also do flea comb them but the one hates it.

We’re in NE Scotland so possibly too cold for fleas, but I’ll ask the vet about it when our next prescription is due!
