Cat which has started using its clawsAll the time

My eight year old cat has started digging her claws into my clothes, putting her paws on my face with the claws out , using her claws on everything. She never used to do this. She is making holes in my clothes and it hurts. She has also started to bite us sometimes if we stroke her in a way she doesn’t like. I remove her claws and tell her ‘no claws’. She does seem to get it sometimes but the claws are still coming out .Why would she start doing this all of a sudden?

This makes me think she might be in pain somewhere as she has never behaved like this before. So I'd take her for a vet check.

However, has anything changed in the household? New pet, loss of old pet, a human has left or arrived?

No not really. She has become very very frightened of fireworks but that’s all. She is a very needy neurotic cat, and easily upset.

If nothing much has changed in the household which could explain it, I'd take her to the vet for a check over.
