Dark mark/scab on kitten’s chin

Hi all - lovely kitten about 12 weeks has settled in well, eating, drinking and worming treatment from vet. Had what we thought was a dirty mark under his mouth/chin but now more like a scab. Have next set of vaccinations on Friday so can ask vet then but wondering if any wisdom here. As far as we can tell he hasn’t injured himself on anything. It doesn’t seem to be bothering him.

It looks like feline acne, which is easily treated.

Gribouille · 19/11/2025 03:43

I'd agree probably feline acne. Keep it clean if he'll let you, and use metal or ceramic food/water dishes rather than plastic.

Enjoy your new tiny overlord! 😍

Thank you he has ceramic dishes and doesn’t mind a warm damp cloth on it to try and clean.

Gorgeous kitty! Our boy had feline acne on his chin when he was young - I only used ceramic bowls and changed them daily, and used cotton pads to wipe the area with witch hazel. It went away in a week or two.

How is your lovely kitten’s dark patch - what did the vet say 🐾 💕😻

Ours has something similar. Our vet told us to use these wipes which I got from Amazon. I cut them into quarters
