Cat waking kids up at night

Any advice on this. Senior cat - age 16. Has suddenly started jumping on the kids bunk at night, waking them up multiple times and jumping on them and miaowing.

This is new- the cat has always had access to upstairs. If doors are closed, she scratches the carpets….historically she’s just slept quietly somewhere, so not sure what to do for the best? Cat doesn’t seem ill or distressed, just needy!
