Hi all,

I’ve just today noticed my cat seems to have a sore looking area on her anus, looks red. Never seen it look like that before. She’s an outdoor cat btw 11 years.

I don’t want to rush to the vets if it’s not needed, due to how costly it is! Is this something that might resolve on its own?

Just managed to get quite a good look and it’s an area of redness to the left upper part next to anus, so I’m thinking possibly anal gland inflammation or something.

anyone had experience of that with their cat?

One of mine has had impacted anal glands that looked a bit like that - the vet squeezed them and a whole load of foul smelling brown liquid came out 🤢

Likely your cat will need antibiotics as well so it really does need a vet trip.

Thanks. Turns out it’s probably not the glands and vet thinks injury/fight.

Wee soul. I hope it clears up for her.

Ohh my cat had a scratch right across the hole from taunting his fat brother and bouncing away rather than running cocky little monster wasn't bouncing when the vet cleaned it with hibiscrub fortunately all he needed was a good clean and keeping an eye on it but going to the toilet proved a bit intense for a couple of days 😉
