Flea bites!

Lying here awake feeling sorry for myself because I’ve just been bitten somewhere around twenty times!
DC are at Uni so I foolishly let DCat onto my bed last night, just for an hour. (Poor DCat must be covered in them, how I didn’t notice I don’t know, he definitely need a major comb through & treatment later today.)
I honestly didn’t think it was possible to be bitten this many times, the bites are all over my clearly very tasty & juicy middle, even one on my chin; fingers crossed that the antihistamine works soon.
Meanwhile, any advice much appreciated!

Have your cat regularly treated. Mine gets dosed every 12 weeks without fail to avoid catching fleas.

You need to treat all carpets and soft furnishings. The fleas can lay eggs anywhere. They lay up to 50 eggs a day and can hatch between 2-12 days. So, even if bites now stop, in two weeks time you could be getting bitten again and those ones that hatched could each be laying 50 eggs a day-it doesn’t take long for an infestation!

Brings back awful memories of my flea fiddled student digs. I had 86 bites. We had to call the council out to fumigate. When he said ‘see you soon’ I thought it was a figure of speech. Nope, he just knew once the larvae hatched we would start getting bitten again!

Thank you. All bedding has been changed & last night’s washed at 60 then tumbled; new pyjamas tonight too.
I sprayed (can’t remember name but apparently it lasts 6 months) all the soft furnishings and fabric items I could think of in our bedroom, all the chairs he sits on downstairs - very few, just dining chairs. However I think I missed a cushion that he occasionally frequents because I got bitten again a in that room a couple of hours ago, on the boob. Ended up getting undressed in the shower & washing myself & all my clothes (though not at 60!)
Treated cat with whatever it’s called too, but haven’t finished combing him through (demands on time simply too much, with parent caring tonight).
I love that DCat but with all the special attention today & not being allowed out of the kitchen, I’m not sure he is too fond of me at the moment!

PS Oh my giddy aunt that is a horrific number of bites - what a dreadful experience!
