Brown spot appeared in cat's eye

Noticed today that my DCat (3 years old) has a brown spot above his left pupil. I think the pupil is also smaller compared to the other side. Any idea what this could be? Thank you

It’s, feline corneal sequestrum see a vet ASAP! It can be very painful

It’s probably iris melanosis - it’s totally normal, not painful and nothing to worry about - but check with a vet if you’re concerned as it can be a sign of something more serious.

Basil has had similar for about 5 years - our vet is remarkably unworried. Get a quick check up and hopefully it's nothing sinister.

My parents cat has th. But he’s much older. If it’s a sudden new thing then go to the vet.

I do think the pupils look unequal though. Bizarrely Penelope’s did this last night but it’s difficult to tell as her eye shape is not symmetrical.

Hello all and thank you for your advice :)

We took him to the vets first thing this morning and they said it's a viral thing so he has been prescribed antibiotic eye drops (pray for us...). They want to check on him in 5 days so hopefully they drops will have done their thing.

He was such a brave boy and is currently in hiding after his ordeal. I'm about to tempt him out with some £££ treats to give him first dose.

It's so frightening when you know they aren't right, isn't it.

And yes, the vet was pretty unconcerned about the discoloration and more worried about the uneven pupil sizes
