I had to have my lovely cat pts a couple of weeks ago. He was only 10 - just. It turns out that I had his birthday wrong on my insurance - never noticed or realised as it has auto-renewed every year and I stupidly haven't paid much attention. I didn't know his precise dob anyway as he was rescued at around 4 months, but they definitely have him as approximately one year younger than he was. I've let them know the correct date (the vet's info had highlighted it) and they have said they will pass the info on to the claims team or something non-committal like that. FFS, they won't pay will they? So as well as losing him I will now need to find £3k I don't have...

Honestly I think it would be ok with that
it’s not like people always have the precise DOB, and it’s not as if you’ve said 8 years younger or something

Not a cat, but my mum put herself down as a year younger on her life insurance. I have no idea why. But it paid out with no quibbles when she died.

I am very sorry about your cat.

Thank you both. They have actually just emailed to say they've paid! I started spiralling there needlessly. I only claimed on Friday so pretty good.

That is good news. Grief can do funny things to our brains, so it might have been partly that.

Glad they've paid out, was going to say not to worry about it, I couldn't even remembers my dogs birthdate when I registered him at a new vet and completely made it up for my guinea pigs 🤣 my dog has had a lot of claims and no issues. Sorry about the loss of your cat 😞
