Cat proof fencing

Hi
I’ve just moved home and have an adorable but skitty male ginger cat, of about 8 years. I used to live in a very rural environment but have moved to a small town that he doesn’t know at all. Downsizing after death of husband.

I am keeping him in and reassuring him, lots of fuss and treats etc and he is doing well but before I let him into the rear garden, I would like to cat proof it.

It is wood panel fenced all around to just under 6 feet and has a patio, hedges and shrubs. The rear garden is square, about 35’ x 35’.

Can anyone recommend a good company, they have used, who can fit the cat proofing for me?
Thank you.

Thank you, that sounds perfect and very good to know that you have used them twice. Thanks again.

Remember to check who owns the fence before you attach anything.

This is my ‘cat-proof’ fence. This is also my cat. 🤪

It’s a very good fence as it keeps my other two in, but this one is a fucker and would probably escape from Fort Knox.

We got ours from White Paw Fencing and did it ourselves, but I would use professionally-installed ProtectaPet if I did it again.

I used protectapet. No escapes and great installation.

He looks lovely and a lot of fun. 😂 He must be super intelligent.

ProtectaPet is definitely the winner I think.

We used Sanctuary SOS who were brilliant.

Thank you. I’ve not heard of them before and will definitely investigate.

I used Katzecure at my old place. If you’re handy with diy, you can save money by installing it yourself.

Protectapet is one of the best things we have done! Admittedly not cheap, but has allowed our daft boy with zero road sense to go out!

Does this also keep other cats out? I'd like to keep my cats in but there are three cats next door and I'm worried they will be able to get over from the other side and then get stuck in my garden.

Puppylucky · 19/08/2025 12:47

Not according to the guys who did my installation @Gettingbysomehow . They specifically warned me that a cat approaching from the other side of the curved fencing could get into our garden but not out again.

Oh dear. Ill give it a miss then. I don't want to come home and find 5 wailing cats in my garden!!!

I’ve had mine over 10 years and have had one cat (a youngish kitten) come into my garden. There are several cats around but they walk along the back of the fence and have never jumped over the mesh into the garden.

It’s not impossible but just my experience that it doesn’t happen.
