Will my 6mo male chill?

Hi,

We have a neutered 2yo female who is really quite stoic and laid back. She's moggy with a bit of ragdoll. She's outdoors, independent, well socialised, enjoys watching the world go by, likes her routine and generally pretty immune to a high energy household.

Then we have Mr neutered 6mo who is a long haired moggy ragdoll cross. We adopted him at 8 weeks back in March and he's generally a happy chappy playful boy with a good appetite.

He kind of wants to be boss and believe he thinks the home is his and not females, as he's spent most of his life indoors. Occasionally they will have a calm moment (usually when he's just woken up) and she will wash his head and face. Since we got him, she simultaneously wants to wash him and put him in his place. I think she kind of wants to wash him and finds him interesting to watch but as soon as he interacts with her, she's like 'err no actually!'

Now, when he wants to play fight, she tells him 'no' and hisses etc but he keeps relentlessly harassing her by launching himself onto her, she retreats and he keeps going. She now spends so much more time outside I think to get away from him. The funny thing is she was a little bit like this when she was a kitten.

I'm wondering if anyone else has been in a similar position and whether Mr will calm down and stop not taking 'no' for an answer? Is there any advice you may have on managing this relationship and making our girl feel more at home?

Many thanks

Yeah in my experience they do calm down.

kittens generally can be very high energy and adult cats don’t always appreciate it.

we’ve had a litter born to one of ours and mum just clouted them round the ear when they annoyed her.

Little Tennyson was 2 at the end of March ( he came to me at 7 weeks) and I'm still waiting for him to chill. I think 7 year old Tolkien has decided it's not going to happen. 🙄
