Another cat on our house

does anyone have any ideas what to do…our cat has free access 24/7 in and out of our cat flap. He usually sleeps in our room at night but esp in the summer he can be out roaming all night. We have a microchip catflap so in theory only ours should be able to get in. However twice in the past week I’ve woken in the night in a panic due to hearing cats fighting in my room!! The strange cat fled as soon as it saw me and straight out the catflap so I can only assume it got in that way as it knew exactly where to go to get out.

we have had some windows open but none near a roof where a cat could get into and just the speed and which he found the catflap makes me sure!

the house smelt of cat so I assume it had been spraying. Our cat is only 1 and I feel so bad for it that he was then scared in his own home. Any ideas a) how it could’ve got in through the catflap or b) how to deter it?!

obviously locking ours in at night is an option but he just wakes us up at 4am on our faces to be let out if we do that!

The microchip seems to be working - in that when we try and push it from the outside it doesn’t open, but can’t be 100% of the other cats microchip is also triggering it I guess?

It's probably following your cat in at close speed - I've known cats sneak in that way before.
