Need quick advice on good microchip activated cat flaps - which to get?

I need to order one from Amazon (sorry) today. There is a huge range of prices.
I don’t need anything too fancy. Just one that is reliable, that my cat can use with his chip to get in and to keep the neighbours cats out! He can go in and out freely so I don’t need to be able to lock it remotely or anything like that.

which one should I get?

I'm sure ours is a sureflap one

AnotherEmma · 28/06/2025 14:44

The basic sureflap one is all you need. They're really good.

Basic sureflap.

ExemplaryVegetable · 28/06/2025 22:03

Yep sureflap is good!

MagpiePi · 28/06/2025 22:04

Another vote for Sureflap.

LuckysDadsHat · 28/06/2025 22:05

Sureflap here as well.

We had a sureflap one but found if the 'door' was pushed in the right place it just opened without the any microchip activation and at least one other cat had learned the trick and was coming in. We now have a more secure one from Pet safe brand.

Def sureflap. We've had 2 and can't fault them

Breadcat24 · 29/06/2025 16:06

We have 2 sureflap and they are great

We have Sureflap with an App which has never worked properly so would just get the basic Sureflap

I would recommend getting the disc they sell for cats without a chip (though reckon that will soon be not a thing). When you come to clean it (ours gets filthy,) you can open the flap to clean without having to traumatized your cat 😅

I’ve bought the basic one. It took me a little while to work out what you meant about traumatising your cat to open it up clean it 😂😂

You dont need the cat to open the flap when cleaning it. Just put the wee catch down with your finger and then push it open. You'll need long arms if holding the catch with one hand while you push it open from the outside.

Yea I came home to OH frantically saying he had upset Trevor as he was trying to get him to open the flap

I'm not gonna tell him you can push the thingy down
