I just seen an advert for a cat show/expo in Birmingham NEC on the 13th of September! I wanted everyone to know about it too and if you’ve been to one before was it fun/worth it?

They are only ever interested in pedigree cats, so I wouldn't go.

purpleme12 · 25/06/2025 18:57

Ah I used to love going to this but it was over 10 years ago now
I heard it went downhill? But not sure...
Would be interested to hear as well

Dominoeffecter · 25/06/2025 18:57

It’s not for showing your cats it’s for rehoming cats and selling/showing new cat products.

The cat show live? I went last year. It was quite good. Lots of shopping. I used to go to the Supreme at the NEC but preferred the cat show live. Spent far to much money!

Toddlerteaplease · 26/06/2025 21:38

It is mainly pedigree cats. There were a few rescues there though.

GoodVibesHere · 26/06/2025 21:41

I saw this on Facebook yesterday OP! I am unsure though. It's tempting. But do the cats really enjoy being petted by 100's of people? I don't know. It sounds like a mix of lectures/talks, products for sale, re-homing centres, and lots of cats to see. I need to find out a bit more before deciding, I think.

Oh yes I was thinking of the Supreme in Birmingham
Those were the days
Loved going there so much. Could spend so much though!

They don't even hold it at Birmingham anymore though do they 😞

What's better about the Cat Show Live?

LegalAlienated · 26/06/2025 21:54

If you look up Tica, Loving Cats Worldwide and Fife they all do regular cat shows around the country. It’s admittedly about pedigree cats just like dog shows, similar to a beauty contest. I used to love them.

purpleme12 · 26/06/2025 22:14

Thinking about it, there was one show one year which was mostly cats but it did have a little section with other animals. I can't remember what it was called it was so long ago though. I used to get the Your Cat magazine till it went out of publication 😢😭 sad times

Toddlerteaplease · 26/06/2025 22:21

@purpleme12it was much more relaxed than the supreme. I look at some of the breeders and wonder what their cats lives are really like. Particularly after seeing the state Penelope was in when I got her. She’d been being shown only a few months previous to me adopting her.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/06/2025 22:22

The supreme at Stoneleigh was better as the parking was free!

Dominoeffecter · 27/06/2025 12:27

It’s not cheap but I’m really tempted to get a family ticket and buy crazy amounts of cat things 😻

Ohhhh I thought this was going to be a way to showcase your moggies 😹

Rosie would have loved meeting an audience of 20,000 and jumped from lap to lap, purring her head off 🙀

Toddlerteaplease · 28/06/2025 17:19

@PollyCreo the late Cheddar would have adored it as well. I did think about putting her in the non pedigree section, as she was a beautiful exotic shorthair. My current cat was shown. And the first picture I saw of her was her sitting in her carrier with her rosette. I can’t imagine how they showed her. She would have been utterly petrified and hating every minute of it.

Toddlerteaplease · 28/06/2025 17:20

And got they got the little Houdini to pose for that picture, I have no idea. She does not sit in carriers posing. 🤣🤣
