Ragdoll fleas?

I've noticed some very small spots of dirt around the rump area, very close to the skin. Its almost looks as if the skin is pitted. It's very hard to see much due to the amount of fur she has. I haven't seen this anywhere else. She mainly an indoor cat but goes in the garden for a play once a day - doesn't go out of the garden. I flea and worm her every few months. The last time was about a month ago. Does this sound like fleas?

I've just had another look, and it's not her skin. The bits of brown aren't attached to the skin. I've rubbed them with a wet bit of kitchen roll and it's not going 'rusty'.

Or could it be dust from the litter? Am I being overly optimistic there? 🤔 I might try and do a hygiene trim tonight to see if that helps.

I did a little hygiene trim last night. I thought I'd cut loads off but when she was the right way up, I'd barely taken any. She's so furry! 😁 I've combed through with a normal cat comb then with a nit comb (the areas where I thought I'd seen flea poo) but I didn't get any fleas.

I'm going to give the settee and living room a really good vacuum today, and I'm waiting for cat shampoo to be delivered to give her a bath.

I did another spot on flea treatment yesterday too. I haven't actually seen any fleas in her fur so could it just be dirt? She does go outside. Any comments/advice welcome. This sort of stuff does stress me out a bit.

Do you treat her with prescription flea stuff from the vets as lots of the OTC things don’t work .

Thanks for replying! I use Stronghold Plus from Atlantic Pets. I think it's strong enough?

I get it from a New Zealand website so don't need a prescription. I've seen on other threads that it's a prescription one.

I have the same problem right now with my ragdoll. Picked him up from the cattery last week and he's been scratching non stop. Noticed what we thought was flea dirt yesterday and hot footed it to the vet just before they shut at 4. No appointments till Monday so got some Frontline plus from Pets at home plus some indorex. Treated him yesterday and treated the house today. I've still not seen any actual 'jumping' fleas but he seems to be shedding eggs right now (showing up on the dark wood table he lies on) I've thrown his towel and blanket away and boil washed the bedding and towels. Think I might take him to the vet for the prescription stuff tomorrow after all.

@RainbowZebraWarrior let me know how you get on. I washed the blankets off the settees today, and hoovered like a demon. I can still see flecks of dark by her rump. I'm still not sure if it's fleas. Will shampoo her tomorrow (I'm sure that's going to go smoothly and be an easy process...)
