I currently use silica crystal litter, which is nice and dust free but not very absorbent. It has a nice fragrance too.

It is pricey, so I'm wondering if for the price I pay I could get a better, also dust free, but more absorbent and nice smelling litter? I'm paying about £5 for 5 litres. Only one (spoiled) gorgeous cat to cater for.

Wood chip litter! I used silica for years with previous cats. Started fostering and they gave me a bag of wood chip. It doesn’t smell! (Except when she has an upset tummy). I don’t find it dusty (catsan on the other hand is very dusty). i Won’t use anything else now!

Wood chip litter is by far the best for keeping dust to a minimum.

We use Greenwoods plant fibre litter. Good for dust and it smells nice in a natural oaty way when clean.

this is what we’re using because our rescue cat was used to it at the rescue centre. Can I ask how often you change it?

i’ve been scooping out the poo & just putting a bit of extra wood chip in every so often if I remember but I only changed the litter entirely after a week

we have 2 trays, one cat

i can’t work out if that’s enough/too much - we’ve gone through 2 big bags of the wood chip in 3 weeks

i’m worried my nose has become acclimatised to the smell because unless there is fresh poo I can’t smell anything else

thanks!!

thanks!

I have very large litter trays (hooded) as have very large cats!

I’ve always used Cats Best clumping litter (wood pellets). It seems expensive at first to fill the trays, they are deep. But poo and wee clumps really well and easy to scoop out without much wastage. Nothing is ever soiled down to the base, so no need to do a full tray change, I just top it up with a couple of scoops of fresh stuff every few days.
