Is it just my white cat?

Is it just my pure white cat that comes home looking grey! He's just come in and he's got a big black stripe from his head down to his tail.

He does nothing to clean himself either 🙄

He never looks clean, he's two years old and a pain in the butt. Always hungry, cries non stop, howls to be let out and will not stay in the house, he also terrorises my other cat!

I love him but he's hard work and thinks he's a king 😂

He’s probably been sitting under a nice warm car and has got oily dust on his head and back, my white cat used to do that.
He’s a sweetie -what’s his name?

GetOffTheCounter · 31/05/2025 13:19

he does not think he is a King. He knows it!

Does he have access to a nice dusty road? Our black cat comes in all grey and dusty. Occasionally with cobwebs in her ears if she has rolled near the garage.

Themostbeautifulcats · 31/05/2025 13:36

Although not entirely white, ours likes to stick his head down holes after meeces and comes back filthy. He sometimes looks like he’s been contouring. He does wash himself occasionally though.

I can always tell when my white girls been under the car - she’ll come out with a black splotch on her.
Years ago we had a long haired silver tabby who decided to walk under a table my dad had just painted. Walked round for ages with a green stripe down her back.

Toddlerteaplease · 31/05/2025 14:45

Our late white cat was constantly coming back covered in oil, from sitting under cars.

cremebruleee · 31/05/2025 14:57

Nope not just yours. Mine used to sleep, and roll around, in the garden beds and plant pots. Could never get her in when it was raining. She was a grubby girl! She loved terrorising all the other cats who came into her garden. She was a little feral princess!

❤️❤️❤️ What a beauty.

We're living in a renovation and my black + white boy is permanently grey. He's SO mucky (and thick as mince) but an absolute Prince.

Omg our boy was the same, he came back all shades of grey from his nose to his tail. Once he'd made a nest in a flower bed and came back with yellow stained fur from the pollen.

There's another white cat locally and he's exactly the same, always a bit grubby-looking.

Evvyjb · 31/05/2025 15:43

His (totally black) sister specialises in dust and cobwebs...

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 31/05/2025 16:30

Mine loves to roll around in the dirt too. Once he crept down into the cellar and came out so filthy we had to give him a bath 😂

Slatterndisgrace · 31/05/2025 16:34

Your cats are so switched on, they know exactly how to annoy their owners, sorry - the people they own.m

smileattherain · 31/05/2025 16:36

My completely white cat does the same - he goes under cars or just rolls in dust and comes back various shades of grey/brown, normally on one side or in a stripe from nose back!

His name is Teddy, he was a feral kitten I rescued. Such a lovely boy but he's so naughty!

Awww
Our boy ( jet black) comes wandering in with "garden in your fur" as my DD calls it . Sometimes flowers, bits of grass , or cobwebs in his whiskers .
His sister gets dust if she's playing under my bed Blush
She once got a Pepe Le Pew style stripe (emulsion) from paint in DD room.

TheNinjaWife · 01/06/2025 01:24

We had a black and white cat, that used to come home with a dirty face from being under a car. We used to call it mechanicking. ‘Hey, Tibbles have you been mechanicking?’
He also once got up our chimney before we blocked it off. We called that chimney sweeping.
Rest in peace Tibbles, age 20.

This is an old picture of Basil just to prove black cats can get filthy too 😹.

Awaiting a censor check. Clearly my grubby cat is so shocking his picture needs extended vetting 🤣

lol, dirty little cat! It’ll be those cobwebs.

This is an old photo of one of mine. We live in a semi rural village where people often have bonfires. My cats seem to love rooting through a bonfire for some reason!

Mine attempted to dig in my vegetable beds yesterday. I took him inside where his litter tray is but he didn't want to go, he just wanted to get dirty. He went to sleep on the soil in the greenhouse later. He frequently comes home grey and dusty. I nickname him Grubster.
