Cat reluctant to use cat flap

We have glass back doors to our kitchen and a cat flap in a side door that is not see through. Our cat is sitting in the rain outside the glass doors looking at us mournfully and crying. Every now and then one of us will take pity on him and bang the cat flap to remind him he can actually move about one metre to the side and come in. This is not just today, it’s a regular occurrence and I don’t like opening the back door for him - it’s got three locks and also …. there’s a catflap! This is not new… he’s 4 and been using it for years. My question is … does he forget about it, not like using it in the rain… or something else? He comes and goes as he pleases so this really only happens when he can see us??

Why would you use the catflap when you have servants available?

I know right! It probably is this, but why would you wait literally for hours to come in if you can just, walk in straight away? Or maybe that’s not cat logic ?

Mine sits outside the catflap meowing pathetically because he doesn’t like it and hopes I’ll open the door for him. I thought all cats did this, on principle.

Mine won’t use the cat flap unless it’s taped up open with masking tape 🙄🙄

Our cats expect the royal treatment if anyone is downstairs in the house. Door opening and closing. Meowing to remind us to hurry up. Front or back door depending on their need.
They have a catflap too. But only to be used as and when they decide to.
In fact I was in the kitchen yesterday and one cat used the catflap.....and I actually went to check why. I felt it was the equivalent of a teenager trying to sneak out the house to get up to no good!
Welcome to cat slavery. That's you being the slave....
