Cat missing

DCat is missing. We've had her for 9 years and she has never missed a night at home before! I've activated my entire network but no sign as yet. She's a grumpy bugger but it's just not the same coming home from work and not being greeted by an indignant yowl armt the door:(
Just posting for a handhold really!

I’m so sorry OP, here for the handhold. I know, even if they’re grumpy, it doesn’t make you love them any less. I’m hoping you get that indignant yowl at the door very soon.

Handhold here. The same happened to us last summer. She was 12 at the time and the first night ever she’d stayed out. Queue much sobbing in the house and me searching at 3am as I couldn’t sleep and in she sauntered the next day as though nothing had happened.

I put a GPS collar on her the next day as I never wanted to go through that again so I know how hard it is. Through this I’ve found she always has the same walk on the same route, which I never would have guessed where she was actually going, and I’ve introduced ourselves to the multiple neighbours she keeps visiting 4-5 blocks away (who are lovely and we probably would have never met otherwise). I’m sure the cat keeps wondering how we keep turning up where she is or opening the door to let her in when she’s home. Even the local cat fosterer has our number now as she hangs out in her garden during the day with her rescues, we found out via the tracker 🤦‍♀️. I’m hoping she’ll be back soon for you and my experience is the trackers really do give you peace of mind if you want to let her out again.

She's back! Hopped onto the bed purring her head off!!!

@Stars15 that's hilarious! Which tracker do you use? We definitely want one for her!

That’s great! We use the tractive one. I set up “safe zones” around our house so it uses less battery and lets me know when she’s entered our area, but then I set up a second safe zone around the cat fosterers house so I know once she gets there too. It’s got us out of a bind a few times when she’s got locked in a shed or garage. It logs her steps as well like a Fitbit and lets me know if she’s doing less activity than normal and might not be feeling well etc. For being 13 she’s quite active. She’s logged 5135 minutes of walking this month!

Oh I’m so glad OP! You must be so relieved!
