Four weeks ago today I lost my beloved 16 year old tuxy. She had a hyperthyroid and possible kidney issues. After 8 days on medication she started to go down hill. She collapsed and couldn’t move and was twitching. I Was told this was seizures. I rushed to the vet and I was told hyperthyroid causes extra blood to run through the kidneys masking issues and when the medication started to work her body couldn’t get rid of the toxins. She was PTS within 5 mins of seeing the vet.
I have collected her ashes on Easter Monday. We are totally heartbroken to lose her..
we also have a 15 year old boy cat. At first I thought he was just missing his friend. But very quickly I noticed his reduced eating and weight loss. I called the vet and they moved his appointment meant for next week to an hours time. At the vets he had a feel of his stomach and said he felt a mass on his kidney. Bloods showed his kidneys have issues so he had a scan which showed a 3 cm tumour. The vet is as sure as he can be, without invasive tests (which he advised against as kidneys are vascular and the procedure can cause severe bleeding) that it is renal lymphoma. For now he is on palliative care. But it is a day by day hour by hour situation. The second I see any sign of suffering I will be straight to,the vet.
to say we are heartbroken is an understatement. Within 4 weeks we have lost our girl and told our boy is terminal and we could lose him at any time. We have had both since kittens and it’s hard to remember life before my tiny little tuxy arrived almost 16 years ago.
I don’t know what I’m looking for, I’m just totally devastated. My heart hurts so much. I didn’t think I would be in this situation again so soon.
