Cat flap recommendations - chip control?

We need to get a cat flap fitted for our middle aged boy. Ideally one that works with his chip as he absolutely will not wear a collar. What would people recommend?

Surepet products are great. The cat flap allows access by reading the microchip, you can put curfews on it and it will let you know through the app on your phone when your cat leaves and enters the house. I find it reassuring to know when we're away that the cats are back home for the night.

sure pet care cat flap buy on amazon. control through an app. can have a more thank one chip. you get an alert evey time they come in and go out. Its funny 🤣 you get a message welcome home snowey etc.

Can I jump on as we are looking to get one of these too?

As far as I can see, if you get the basic
sureflap you can’t set a curfew. So to have a curfew function you either need to buy the high tech one with a separate hub into your router, or to get the pet door which doesn’t need a hub but is much bigger. I definitely don’t want the complexities of a hub and a WiFi enabled cat flap and the risk of the cats being stranded outside if the broadband goes down. So the question is, is it worth it to be able to preset a curfew given that the downside is having to have a huge cat flap hole in the door (our cats are small)?

We have one without the app but it's chip operated. Our cats can come and go as they please though so we don't need to set a curfew

Check the positioning of their chip - we got a chip one but his chip must be too far back as it doesn't register (unless I put him through to test - it sees him about 1/3 way through)

Do you know how I’d be able to check this? Don’t want to make an expensive mistake!

You can get your cat re-chipped if the microchip has gone walkabouts down their body. We have the dual sureflap, while expensive we could set the curfews etc and see the activity on the app.

BUT our young cat has worked out she can let the I door only kitten out of it. Firstly she held it open with her nose. Then she came to realise that she only needed to stand near it enough to activate the lock so she could let him out ,😩

Check the distance from the WiFi hub too, our connection works but it's not a strong connection. I'm glad I have the sureflap and it was worth the one off expense if you're wanting some control over their time outside. For example of were out for the day and can't find out cat we just set it to lock on the app and usually she's in within 15 mins after we've gone out.
