Hi all.
I took my 15 year old tabby tom to the vet last Friday. He’s got a growing patch of fur missing on his back, down towards his tail. I wasn’t sure whether he was over-licking (I’ve not seen him doing it) or whether it might be something else. He’s on Thyronorm, in case it’s relevant.
The vet found that his anal glands were full of whatever fills them up, and took him away to squeeze them out. He thought that perhaps Catty had been feeling pain and licking to try to relieve it.
No ABs or other meds were prescribed.
Since then I’m wondering whether I see him not wanting to put his bottom on the ground when he sits. It could be I’m imagining it.
This has never happened to one of my cats before. Does anybody know whether he’s likely to be sore for a while after this treatment?
