Can anyone recommend some cat toys

That DCat won’t either destroy or be bored with after five minutes. Currently bored with the red dot, a self moving ball and the fishing rod. Has destroyed toys that are not robust.

Look at Migipaws on Amazon - ours love the one with the palm tree, and I mean LOVE. They also like da bird and da purr from pets at home

Kong Kickaroo - it’s fab!

Chemenger · 02/05/2025 10:51

Ours likes plastic springs, we quite often hear him whacking them around , especially fun on hard wooden floors in the dead of night, apparently.

Ownedbykitties · 02/05/2025 10:52

I've had the best response from the springs and fishing rod. You have to whip the fishing rod feather up into a frenzy, make it dip to the floor and fly high quickly, very quickly and I have found finning it round in large circles quite quickly on hard floors also works. They have to catch it now and then though 😂. All these mechanical toys do not do enough to attract interest for more than a few minutes and they are very expensive too. I will we watching in case anyone has found a magical cat toy that works !

Springs. All of the springs.

Ours love to play fetch with them, it’s very cute when they trot back to you with one in their mouth, to go again. And like PP I also hear them batting them around at night.

Mine will only chase a laser dot or string tied onto a stick. He loves to have a pile of scrunched up newspaper to dive into or boxes to hide in when chasing. He has no interest in anything tied onto the end of the string so I don’t bother. I sometimes put catnip into an old sock and tie it up and he plays with that without destroying it.

Mine's a biter so can't have anything with solid innards or where she can chew bits off that might cause problems... she also can't have fishing rod or laser things as she goes for my hands.

Kong stuff is mostly good, especially their dental range (she loves the caterpillar), Yeoww are good, Molly's Mice, mostly fabric based toys so she can't hurt herself! Ping pong balls are good for a moving toy as she can't get her mouth around them (she tries!). Foam balls get bitten.

She loves her pile of tissue paper grass for rolling around, finding hidden toys and skidding around in. Also cardboard tunnels.

Brilliant! Thank you so much!

The Yeowwwwww banana and cigar. My boy kicks the crap out of them. The kippers are good too but they get lost easily due to the size.

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 02/05/2025 13:54

Another vote for plastic springs.

Ours also quite like small balls (or things that act like small balls such as Brussel sprouts).

Favouritefruits · 02/05/2025 14:34

cats springs are always a winner and mine love the Yeowww crayons and bananas. The Da bird wand toy was a huge success too compared to other wand toys.

Love this thread and lots of ideas for our twin boys! Thank you OP for starting it.

Just to add that ours bloody love a cat tunnel with holes (ours were cheapo from Home Bargains, link below). They love going through from….one end to the other…and running back through again. Or lying inside it then hurtling out at great speed making the turkey gobble noise, they think no one can see them inside 🙄

A bag for life on its side with a favourite toy inside is also a winner.

Any paper packaging scrunched up inside a box.

would second cat tunnels. So cheap to buy but so much fun for the kitties. Put a few end to end. They love them.

TroysMammy · 04/05/2025 17:35

A red pipe cleaner.
A squirrel you shove catnip in.
A dog tunnel. He gets stuck in a cat tunnel because he's a chubster.
Da bird purr peller.

elessar · 04/05/2025 18:44

Second anything King Catnip - ours have never loved toys so much! They’ve had the carrot, snake and banana - the carrot was the definite favourite but they love them all.
