Cat affectionate towards dog?

I've got a small dog plus a cat who moved in years later after the death of a relative. Ddog is very gentle and submissive with dcat, a bit wary of her but on the whole they peacefully co exist and both sleep on my bed. Dcat has always been ok with ddog, a little tetchy at times with her claws but tolerates her well.

Today they were together on the sofa and for the first time dcat started rubbing her head all over ddogs head. I was prepared to move her away if she got tetchy but she just wanted to rub heads lol.

Is she showing love to ddog? Or just marking her scent on her?

I found it so sweet to watch. Ddog was having a bad day with her dementia so it was quite nice really.

Oh wow! Sounds like affection to me 🥰

One of my cats does this with the dog. Then when they're both sitting next to me I sometimes take the dog's paw and pet the cat with it to return the favour. Sometimes the dog and this cat curl up next to each other to sleep. It's adorable.

I absolutely love seeing our dcats and ddogs interacting!
We rehomed a previously worked lurcher.. She is fascinated with dcat!

Ha! I've done this with paws and tails to 'stroke' the other one!

Our cats absolutely adored our dog, they always laid together, dog was happy for the cats to be boss! The odd thing was whenever our dog was out and saw a cat, he acted they they were some kind of alien species, like he has never seen one before 😂

This is exactly the same as our cat and dog! The dog definitely doesn’t recognise other cats as being the same as the one he lives with 🤦🏼‍♀️ they are so funny 😂

Love it! I try this with my v old cat and young dog. The dog decided she’d rather sniff, then lick, then gently nibble cats tail, cat looked on suspiciously. Then dog suck up the cats tail like a bit of spaghetti.

The cat was calm but not impressed. Dog smiled nervously and moved away. But I still find her doing it now and again, they have a love hate relationship and sometimes sleep together, others they will argue and bicker like kids.

We have an old cat who has got on well with ( and outlived) 2 dogs and has the most beautiful playful bond with our 3rd, snuggling all night, playing all day. We now have an 11 week old puppy and, so far, she's brought in 2 mice and a worm and dropped them in front of the pup like a welcome gift!

We used to have a cat and a dog who loved each other, The cat would wind around the dog's legs, and the dog would clean the cat's ears. Then the dog would lie down and the cat would cuddle up in the warmest spot virtually on the dog.

They seemed to really understand each other.

My dcat has been obsessed with ddog since we bought her home. Ddog was terrified of her at first 😂😂

Anyone else agree dcats take on ddog traits after while? As a dc we took our 2 ddogs in the car to local woods regularly
. Became quite a sight when 2 dcats decided to come one day.

It became a weekly trip out. Wish we had had mobile phones to take pics back then (80's)..

Yes. Dcat flops and lays down like dog, she plays fetch and play fights with her 😂
