Tiny kitten socks

I need suggestions. DD and I are fostering a mum cat and her 4 kittens. 3 of the kittens have a stumpy leg as the cord was wrapped round their feet. It cut circulation off and their paws have now fallen off too. They heal pretty quickly until they exert themselves and rub the scab off. They all have fat flu too! Mum is licking them and we are cleaning stumps too but i think we need something to cover over the end of their paws as they look red raw. They are tiny though, only 3 weeks old. I’ve tried the bandage type tape that sticks to itself but it keeps falling off. Their legs are just so small. Any ideas of what I could use?

What about a modelling balloon? Perhaps a skinny strip of balloon with the sticky tape around the top for extra security.

I found those narrow balloons really small. You wouldn’t even need an end necessarily- cut the strip too long so the dangling end offers protection. I’m assuming from all the care they need they are closely supervised in case of chewing from mum.

Can you sew a strap onto something so that there's a sock on their foot which can be held on across their body? Almost like a teeny crossbody bag shape, with the "strap" going around their butt and other side of their body, so that the "bag" stays on their foot. Maybe sewing a bit of elastic onto a baby sock.

The balloon idea sounds like a massive choking hazard to me, I am afraid 😮 great idea as long as they NEVER get them off, but they probably eventually can... 😬😬😬
