Recommendations for insurance

So we’ve had our naughty ball of fluff for 5 months. We’ve been trying to keep him in, but he’s going bananas.
Our last two rescue cats went out but they were older and a bit more sensible, our last cat mostly just stayed in the garden.

So I need to get insurance sorted before I let him out I think. Any recommendations?

Tesco have been fab. Don’t be fooled by him being a mainly indoor cat. My 4 indoor Persians have been nothing but trouble!

He’s a beautiful beast!

He nearly climbed out of an upstairs window yesterday. Never seen a cat so desperate. He’s scared of everything so hoping he doesn’t go far.

Never thought of Tesco - thanks

We’ve used PetPlan for multiple cats over the years. We’ve gone for their covered for life classic as this means we get continuous coverage for ongoing conditions as the drugs can get quite pricey on a monthly basis. We have always had older cats so this is why we have the high level of coverage. They have never yet failed to payout, it’s always prompt. This has included brain surgery on one cat and a CAT scan on another as well as ongoing rounds of thyroid and pain medication. So they are my go to.

Been with Tesco pet insurance for the past 20 plus years and wouldn’t change. They have been excellent at paying out. My only quibble is that they don’t cover supplements even if the vet has prescribed them. But that is minor in comparison to ease of claims and customer service in general.

Get window screens. Flatcats or Cataire.

DH won’t have them and it’s 3 bay windows alone upstairs. Hoping that going out will put an end to if.

and thanks everyone - will get that sorted and he can go out Friday as I am home.

Many Pets here as the annual allowance is fantastic, and have the conditions for life cover.

faerietales · 08/04/2025 07:53

Another vote for Tesco, they’ve been great.

dementedpixie · 08/04/2025 07:55

Also with ManyPets. Lifetime policy with £15k cover

Alternativetolove · 08/04/2025 08:12

Watch out for copayments from the start or that come in when your cat reaches a certain age, 20% of an 8k bill is a lot! I like waggel as the excess is a set amount,

Thirding Many Pets - Elton would have bankrupted us without them!.
