Stray Cat - Needs a Name!

Okay so long story short, we’ve ended up with a stray cat who is an absolute sweetheart. Still trying to locate his owners (no chip, etc) and figure out if he can peacefully coexist with our other boy but in the meantime, “the cat” doesn’t feel very friendly, and so he needs a (possibly temporary, possibly permanent!) name!

Does anyone have any suggestions? He’s so friendly and so skinny, poor guy. But safe now Smile

I did not know the boy was Tony! Thank, you, somehow my life is enlarged by this trivia!

Beautiful cat and you are Good People for taking him in - I liked the first suggestion of Simon, or maybe a one-syllable, non-'ie' name to go with Charlie, like John.

I used to have a cat called Charlie. He was inherited from my next door neighbour and they had called him Charlie because he used to go to their door and yowl at their existing cat.

And you could have complete conversations with him.

I think everyone over a certain age has fond memories of Charley says...

I also like the suggestion of Kenny Everette. My cousin had a cat called Stan Lee, when she put RIP Stan Lee (meaning the guy from Marvel) she got loads of replies asking what had happened to her cat.

Nothing wrong with ‘the cat’. My stray was called similar for the 16 years we had her!

MuddlingThroughLife · 09/04/2025 11:15

My 2 male cats are called Alan and Billy.

Barry. He is definitely a Barry.

Yes to Barry but ( though I'm thinking Barry from Sorted , not Manilow)

Kermit for a mackerel tabby

Don't fancy Balonz then ?

Reading through the suggestions made me smile - my son, my husband, my male cat and several of the guinea-pigs names have been listed.
( none of mine is Balonz though )

My mobility scooter is called Ned, named after a cat that lived at the house I bought it from.

Many moons ago my aunt found a stray ddog... Dgm who she lived with was adamant ddog wasn't staying.. So he was referred to as Nameless...
For the 15 years they definitely didn't keep him!!
Looks very like my dcat op. He is called Henry...
But given the Brian suggestion I would go with that instead...

We have a tabby with white paws, my ds1 nicknamed her 'Snowboots'. Beautiful cat by the way!
