What daft/funny things do your cats do that make you smile

Before I had cats, I was probably more of a dog person. I kind of assumed that all cats were aloof, not very affectionate and pretty much “the same” re personalities.

When I got my previous two, I realised just how wrong I was. I got to know their personalities and funny quirks, they made me smile so much. I had 10 and 15 years with them and I still miss them loads - I am so grateful I had them in my life.

I now have three “new” cats in my life and am getting to know their own funny little ways. After 10/15 years of knowing my previous two, it’s fascinating me all over again how individual they all are

Bubbles (black/white) - she’s 15 and I’ve had her just over a year, I took her on when my mum died. So, although I’d known her for a while, she’s different living with me than me just seeing her at mum’s place. If I’m sat at the table doing craft work, she stands on her back legs, places one front paw on the chair seat for balance and then uses the other paw to prod me in my side. She literally pokes me for attention and it makes me laugh every single time. She has such an earnest look on her little face when she does it.

Storm (white/silver) - he’s just turned 1 and I’ve had him 1.5 months. He has no idea how big he is and has rubbish spatial awareness when it comes to cuddles/belly rubs - he’ll roll over for a better angle and will often end up just slithering off the edge of the bed/sofa. The other day I caught him climbing up my window, which I’ve never seen before - they’re a kind of Georgian-paned type and he was using the wooden slats like the rungs of a ladder. And, occasionally, if he hears something from another room he sits up like a meerkat to get a better take on things 😹

Misty (black/grey) - I’ve had her for for weeks and she’s 5 months old, so pretty much everything she does is crazy and makes me laugh so it’s difficult to pinpoint one particular thing! She managed to flip the washing basket off the bed so that it landed over her on the floor - a bit like the trap/cage in the Mousetrap game.

Am loving getting to know these new personalities - cats are totally awesome 😻

And my old lady cat Thomasina, she'll be 18 next month, likes to sleep in my sons loft bed, she can even climb the steep ladder, she's so chill she let's my son put hats on her!

She’s gorgeous and definitely rocking the hat look.

One thing my daft black and white cat does is lets me play boo. She is in one room and I put my head round the door in a theatrical way and say boo. She has a special boo meow, when I make her jump. She will sneak closer to the door so I jump next time I say boo as she is nose to nose with me. Another version is she sprints past me and smacks me on the head with no claws showing at all! She always wins. It sounds weird written down, but is amazing in the flesh and very very funny. We have been doing this for about 4 years every few weeks.

Our cat likes to try and wake me up by sitting on me and gently head-butting my face repeatedly. Sometimes I ignore her (at like 2am!) so she turns around and moves a bit further away and swishes her tail backwards and forwards on my face. Never does this to DH because she knows I’ll eventually acknowledge her whereas he ignores her.
