Ack fleas! Spot-on didn't work -- what next?

For the first time, our lovely cat has fleas! I had done an itch treatment a week before (which I now know doesn't work and we need a prescription solution.)

We have a vet appt on Weds so in a few days, and can't get in before then.

Is there anything else we can do for our cat now? We are vacuuming and washing like crazy and I am going to spray the house with Indorex when the kids go out later.

But I'd like to treat the cat too before the vet appointment, but I'm not sure if there's anything I can do since we've already given one spot-on treatment. You can't double up, can you? Suppose we can't use collars or anything else? I have been flea combing like crazy (she actually likes it) but I know that's not a full treatment.

Any ideas very welcome!

How long ago was the spot on?
I think there's tablets you can give
I use nexguard from the vet for my 2. It treats worms as well

When I had this problem years ago (I had treated with Frontline spot on, which had stopped working) my vet said I had to wait 2 weeks before retreating with another spot on. So I would wait until you see your vet before using any other products.

Sometimes there are still fleas on them even if the treatment is working.
The vet will give a stronger prescription one so I wouldn't bombard him with another dose of the home one.
If he's really itchy then ask the vet to give him an allergy /pain shot. I think it's a steroid but it seems to give the cat instant relief and chill him out.
I think for now you could just try combing the fleas out but you'll never catch them all even if there's only a few.
Basically I'd say just wait for the superior vet medicine. And ask for a repeat prescription. You can buy the meds online for cheaper than direct from vet. But you do need a script.
