Does anyone else have a cat that stays out for hours?

Finlay went out at 5.30 this morning and has just returned now - stuffed his face and is now having a good groom
I don’t worry as much since I got a tracker - but all my previous Dcats have been more in/out in/out on and off all day and night
Finn also goes a long way to hunt as when he came to us there are so many neighbours with cats he had no territories left to adopt

Not so much this time of year but in the summer I'm lucky if they come back in for meals tbh

Yes, our neutered boy can be out all day and into the night. Especially at this time of year when it’s warmed up and he’s feeling spring like. Eventually he comes back to eat and sleep. Not sure where he goes, I don’t think that far.
His predecessor went a long way from
home - we’d spot him a way away and could be gone longer.

Beautiful cat. Our old cat used to disappear for hours and then I find the bush in the garden he used to sleep in when I thought he was out roaming!
Current cat is out for longer in warm weather, I think he would be overnight too but we keep in him after 9.

Yes in summer he disappears for hours and I don’t like it! In winter he goes out for an hour at a time, max.

Interested to know where your cat goes, I’ve often wondered what ours does for hours on end as he’s quite timid and not known to roam far. I suspect the lovely old lady a few doors away might let him sleep in her conservatory!

Yh mine goes for a long wander. Actually I think he goes 3 doors down, breaks in and finds someone to fuss him.

Yes! Black male neutered went out late last night and didn't come home til lunchtime!! He got a telling off and I got reminded I am the tin opener and I needed to do my job faster!
Grey buttered male, ex-feral cat I have tamed, got them at the same time, he eats, does a security circuit, more food, sleep, eat, another security circuit ... repeat - he's a good boy! I can even tell him to get his 'brother' to come home ... and he DOES!
Female cat hates the boys and rarely goes out

Ours goes out for hours in warm weather-but usually can be found in his den in the bushes at the end of the car park

Not unusual for boy cats. They don't give a shit that we worry. 😆 They feck off for hours on end, sometimes days, just wandering about. The vast majority of cats who go 'missing' on my village Facebook page - or the local market town one, are boy cats.

Girls cats don't usually wander far from home, and they rarely go missing.

Funnily I’ve had 2 boy cats and both have been clingy
my current boy doesn’t like going out at all, unless I’m with him and then he has to come outside to supervise me!

Todays activity map - Finlay was in a field about 1/2 a mile from home - he can go much further and likes to visit the Drs, library, local pubs, nearest nursing home and occasionally the churchyard!

Meanwhile this one rolled over to avoid getting bed sores

Mine likes to sit in the sun, so if there is any she is out.

She also visits my neighbours.

Such a beautiful cat OP! Can I ask which tracker you have as I am considering getting one for my younger cat.

My cat lives in the shed (she’s got in insulated cat house) she could come in, we’ve got a cat flap but she chooses not to, even if the doors are open.

She’s only interested in us for food.

So interesting how they’re all so different! My cat (boy, aged 5) goes out for about 20 mins in the morning to sit and watch the wood pigeons and then comes in and follows me round for the rest of the day! He’s allowed to go in and out as he choose until about 6pm (cat flap) but just much prefers to be indoors, usually sleeping somewhere!

Ours is 6 now and we find tha he doesn't go out as much as he did unless it's sunny, prefers sleeping in his basket

One of mine used to go out for 48 hours or so sometimes. Then he disappeared for 18 months. Suddenly he reappeared, waltzed in, ate two bowls of food, wandered out and we have not seen him again since!

I feel hard done by if I don’t get a bit of cat down time on a daily basis

Must be a grey cat thing! Our grey boy used to go off all day, from 6am and come home at 6 - 8pm regularly. We would see him up the lane behind us but he wouldn't cone home. He doesn't do it now as he's too old, but he's taught our youngest well as youngest now goes off for hours too.
