Just out our lovely cat to sleep this afternoon. Left her at the vet's. Feel so sad. She was 18 years old. Keep crying 😢 Never experienced this before.

I’m so sorry @tinytemper66

I will have to do this in the not too distant future and I’m dreading it.

I didn't think it would upset me as I am not one who usually cries over things. Feel so guilty even though it is the right decision.

Please don’t feel guilty x I’m so sorry for your loss - been there myself and although it hurt like hell it was the right thing. You did it out of love and kindness

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your old lady. Remember that your TLC helped her to get to 18 - she had a great life with you and she was well-loved. RIP sweet one 🌻

I’m so sorry @tinytemper66 , you’ve done the very kindest thing for her, and it’s clear she was very loved. Sleep tight little one.

I am so sorry 😭

18 is an incredible age though, she must have had a wonderful life.

Thanks everyone. Been a tough 24 hours but tears have stopped. The other cat 🐈 is a bit bemused by it all. I don't know what sign to look for to see if she is missing the other one to be honest.

I'm so sorry OP, we lost our lovely 18 year old 10 days ago. Remaining DCat, her litter mate who had never been separated from her, seems remarkably unbothered!

A bit more affectionate than normal but I think that's more of a reaction to how terribly sad we both are rather than her being sad or in need of comfort if you see what I mean.

18 is a great age for a cat, you obviously gave her a great life
