Our beautiful boy passed away today. He was around 20 y. We have been together for 17 years. He passed peacefully at home with us near him. We are heart broken. He was the best cat ever. So much loved. A big hole left in our hearts.

I'm sorry OP. It's exactly 7 days, almost to the minute, since we lost our darling floof. I've cried pretty much all week and explaining dcat's absence to an almost three year old has not been fun. There's a furry cat-shaped hole in my heart 😞

I’m so sorry about Floofy. He looks very similar to our boy.

So sorry @TheNinjaWife , and @chouxchoux and @Floofyboy2010, these tiny little beauties leave huge huge holes in our hearts, it's such a tough thing to go through 💐
@TheNinjaWife it sounds so peaceful for your lovely boy. Do you mind if I ask what you have chosen for him, his remains, if you have made that choice yet?💐

We wanted to bury him in the garden in a position he loved, however we didn’t think we could dig a deep enough hole. In the end we called someone to collect him and take him for cremation.
He just looked like he was sleeping, but it was heartbreaking to say goodbye. Luckily the pet cremation people were very kind.
I think we will scatter his ashes in the garden, and may put some in an urn as we are likely to move once DH retires. However I’m reluctant to split his ashes up.

I am so sorry. No matter how long we have them having to say goodbye always comes far too soon.

He was beautiful and clearly very much loved in all the years he spent with you.

Be kind to yourselves.

Thank you @TheNinjaWife. This is the awful part about having pets isn't it 😢

I will be heartbroken when ours go... I'm sorry.

Memorialise him here! I'd love to see him as a kitten and full range of facial expressions!!

There are a range of shapes for urns, my beloved Pud is in a cat-shaped one, tactile, I actually cuddle it from time to time when I am really missing him

Tuxedo cats take up a huge space in your heart. He looks such a lovely cat.

Thank you all for your kind words. I would love to have seen him as a kitten! He was an adult cat when we first met him in 2008. He was a neighbours cat, and visited us as his household was very busy. After 4 years the neighbours moved away abroad and took there other pets with them, but booked him into the RSPCA. Luckily we able to adopt him because we loved him by then. He had been somewhat neglected. Although we did look out for him, especially in winter when he was left outside.
He had previously been picked up as a stray. He’d been neutered quite late, on so he was a big cat and liked to get into scraps! I was always out in the street separating him from other cats, even before he was our cat! He was also a keen mouser, but rarely caught birds. We did give him such a lovely life. He was so spoilt. He is so missed.

I have seen these. I think I am going to look out for something black and white. I do miss cuddling him.

He liked to ‘count’ pigeons. Making the chirrup sound. Birds were relatively safe though, as he wasn’t a climber or a jumper.
