Cat pooing around the house

Three days in a row our cat has pooed randomly in the house (she goes once a day,). This isn't normal for her. We think she may be under the weather (still eating and drinking but not herself, a bit subdued). If this carries on I'll take her to the vet but she has been recently as she had a cold so was checked over and seemed fine. The poo is runny so it may well be she ie has a bug.

Anyone else had this? It's a real concern, for both the cat and me as I have to clear it up and depending on where she's done it, it can be a nightmare (ie in the middle of my daughters bed 😩)

How many litter boxes do you have?

freakyfriday23 · 28/01/2025 09:33

i have two. both are clean and with good quality sensitive litter. every now and then she poos outside of the tray and have always been told (by both vets and other cat owners) that cats do this sometimes however she has never done it three days in a row. she does seem a little 'off' so am guessing (hoping) it is because she is a little under the weather. it's quite upsetting/stressful

Could anything have happened to make her stressed or upset? Does she go outside at all?

freakyfriday23 · 28/01/2025 21:54

no, nothing stressful. it's all mellow and fine here ie no noisy builders etc. she has access to the garden but hasn't been out the last few days. sure she is under the weather but still eating and having moments of seeing quite normal. i boiled her some chicken earlier which she seemed to happily eat. she hasn't yet however emptied her bowels so i am really on edge, constantly worrying if she is ie sat on my bed etc...i cleaned both litter trays (both were very clean but still did it) which she has used to wee in a few times.

I’ve just swapped my cat from Felix to Royal Canin and she’s stopped doing this. Think it was upsetting her stomach.

That's interesting as I ordered some royal canin persian a few days ago. She gets on well with it but I can only buy it online or in pets at home. She hasn't pood today. I got all excited as she bombed it into the lounge which is something she often does when she has been. i rushed to her litter tray that was in the room.she ran from but she had only done a wee. Dreading getting up tomorrow for fear of what I may be greeted with. She ate well today so it's only a matter of time...

Hope it goes well! I’m giving mine the Royal Canin ‘Sensible’ biscuits and pouches as they are apparently easy to digest and can solve issues with poo!
