Trembling cat

I went to view a cat yesterday with a view to adopt her, she had periods where she would say hello and let me stroke her, purring away but then she would retreat back to her perch and she was trembling and then she came back around and approached me again for a fuss. Could this just have been stress?

Where did you view her? What’s her history?

It was at the fosters home. She was surrendered due to her previous owners no longer being able to keep her as their circumstances had changed. Apparently she was a well loved cat though.

Is the trembling definitely not a medical issue of any sort? Had she been with the fosteres long?

The poor love. If it's not a medical issue she may just be very shy; shy cats become loving cats once they trust you, it just takes time and patience to build trust.

That's what I worried about but apparently she's had a check up and is healthy. She is 3 yrs old. She has only been at the fosterers for 1 week, so it might just be due to the recent changes. She was also happy to sit next to me and be stroked and showed signs that she was content also but I did notice the trembling for a brief period

She could just be feeling anxious. My cat had to be taken on a return trip to the vet a few days after spaying, and as soon as we got into the waiting room she clearly recognised where we were and started trembling like a leaf.

If she’s had a lot of upheaval in her life it sounds like it could be a sign of stress. The fact she was nevertheless happy to sit near you and let you touch her sounds like a really good sign

I agree it looks like a good sign that despite the trembling she was still coming up and requesting attention.

Poor little love has had 3 years in a loving home then suddenly moved from there to rescue, then to fosterers, then has strange people coming to visit; no surprise if she's a bit all over the place.

Bless her. Could just be overwhelmed.
