Cat repeated UTIs

I have a female cat aged 7 . She has developed a real fear of fireworks . Every time she hears them she hides for hours and then develops a UTI. She pees on our bed every time which had
meant having to take the duvet and coverlet to the launderette plus a trip to the vet. It’s all becoming very expensive and stressful. I don’t know what to do about it. It’s happened twice in three months. She is stressed by workmen, chainsaws and any sort of unexpected noise. Gradually becoming more and more jumpy and neurotic and she never used to be like this.

I don’t think I can cope for much longer. Has anyone got any solutions?

Zylkene capsules really helped my quite nervous cat with stress. You just empty the powder onto wet food. I don’t use all the time but when I know there’ll be fireworks or if we’re away.

Ask your vet.
They will suggest a food called C/d Stress, Zylkene as PP said or something more robust like gabapentin or trepiline. They may also give you some anti-inflammatories to use at the very first sign of urinary tract inflammation.
Look up stress cystitis in cats for more.

I'm so glad I saw this post.

My boy is the same!

I love him squillions but the peeing is driving me crazy. He's ruined my mattress and it's not worth replacing ££££'s as he'll only do it again.

I have protectors on it but it still gets through

I got him another litter tray to see if that helped and it has some but he's got used to peeing on the bed!!

Some of it is laziness too I think.

I've had to lock him out for now till I find a solution.

Where do I get them from please? I can't say my vet has been much use.
