Unsure whether to get a second cat

We have a 1.5-year-old ragdoll x Bsh female cat. She seems to get a bit frustrated, and she meows at us a lot for attention. She gets played with a lot (I work from home) and has access to the outside, but she seems to be really bored.

We took her to the vet, who said she was fine and probably just looking for attention.

DH thinks she could use a friend, but she’s quite sassy, and I’m not sure how this would go down. Maybe a younger boy kitten could work, as she’s still fairly young.

Has anyone else successfully introduced a second cat at a similar age?

It could go either way. If they get on, that’s great. If they don’t get on, your original cat will leave home in protest and move in with one of your neighbours.

I have an 9 month kitten and a little 3 month old both girls and they get on fine, doing it young is best. My older girls are mother and daughter. Mum has mellowed but daughter is a bit crabbit but all seem happy enough
