The ladies went out earlier. Kishmish didn't come back before Minouche, which is unusual. Normally, she would get on the windowledge and scratch to get in. Checked out front the and back. But no. Finally found her in the back garden.and she's had some sort of accident.

Can't close her mouth, limp on front right leg, puffy face, very quiet. I would say she's been hit by a car, but she has to get over a 6ft gate to get from the road to the garden.

Just waiting for the emergency vet to ring back to get her in.

Fingers firmly crossed, I hope she is ok.

Kittensat36 · 21/12/2024 16:29

I mean that if she was hit by a car, she would have to get over a 6ft gate with her injuries.

It's amazing what they will do to get home. My friend's cat was attacked by a dog and had a hernia in her diaphragm, fractured pelvis and other hideous injuries and STILL made it home....

Frenchfemme · 21/12/2024 17:46

Fingers and paws crossed for her 💜

Toddlerteaplease · 21/12/2024 19:09

Keeping all of our fingers, toes and paws crossed .

Astrak · 21/12/2024 19:13

What a worry for you. I hope that she's alright. Fingers and paws crossed for you.

Kittensat36 · 21/12/2024 20:03

She's currently in the vets, definite broken jaw and scuffed nails, so she has nutted a car. They will operate tomorrow/Monday, so I will get her home for Christmas. Hopefully it's nothing more, jus bruising etc

Hope all goes well at the vets. Very glad she got home OK.

LammasEve · 21/12/2024 21:21

Hope she's ok and allowed home soon. It's amazing how they can get home even with awful injuries, hopefully apart from the jaw she's just bruised.

Tortielady · 21/12/2024 21:35

Poor little pusscat. If it helps at all, many years ago, our tortie came home with a really nasty jaw fracture and the same issue with her claws as Kishmish. Good veterinary care and plenty of TLC put her right and she made a full recovery.

We whipped her straight up to the vet's, where they operated, then as we were going on a pre-booked holiday, they kept her for a week of in-house care. It was well worth the extra money; by the time we returned, she was fighting fit and keeping the other inpatients awake with her racket and her tortitude. All the best to Kishmish and to you.

Kittensat36 · 21/12/2024 23:51

Apparently she has eaten and seems fine. Her bloods are okay as well. Xray in the morning.

Minouche is being a bit fretty, missing her sister.

get well soon Kishmish

Kittensat36 · 22/12/2024 16:57

You can't see her swollen eye here, but it's much less swollen than it was, she can close her mouth and is comfy lying on it, rubbing on me, et. Review by the surgeon tomorrow, but they are hopeful that an op will not be necessary.

Fingers crossed for Kishmish please

Positive news, and she's a pretty girl!

Pudmyboy · 23/12/2024 15:39

Everything crossed for a perfect recovery for Kishmish, which is a great name and a bit of a tongue twister when trying to say 'wishing Kishmish home for Christmas ' but I really hope she is! 😺

Kittensat36 · 23/12/2024 19:45

I was thinking of Driving Home With Kishmish a la Chris Rea.

She's had her jaw done and they just want the CT scans checked because they think there's a hairline fracture as well. Getting her back tomorrow.

Will there be a festive Cone of Shame?

NCembarassed · 23/12/2024 20:54

Poor baby cat. Years ago my mum's cat had a car accident resulting in broken jaw, top and bottom.

Our vet recommended tinned pilchards, which we would mash for her. It certainly helped: she could eat them with ease, and enjoyed them as a treat after recovery.

We'll be thinking of Kishmish.

Will there be a festive Cone of Shame?

Quite possibly. Tinsel round the edge would keep her very happy. 😁

How is Kishmish doing @Kittensat36 ?

Kittensat36 · 05/01/2025 16:11

Sorry I haven't updated. Kishmish is fine. She has been her normal self, no issues eating an she has been sleeping in her carry box, so that's good. She has a follow up this week and the wires will be out next month.

murasaki · 05/01/2025 16:24

Good news! I bet she'll be happy when she cam roam the house again.

Kittensat36 · 06/01/2025 03:20

Yes, she's enjoying just catting around the house. She's showing a marked reluctance to go out, but that could just be the weather.

Her sister was a bit underwhelmed to have her back - she smelt of hibiscruɓ, which was lovely for me, but Minouche didn't trust this weird smelling stranger. Its all good now though.
