Cat has diarrhroea

Poor cat came into the kitchen yesterday and made a weird full body heave motion like a set of bagpipes and then squirted out a very watery poo and was a little bit sick. As I was desperate to go to bed as I have had flu for a week, it was the last thing I wanted to deal with. It took three goes at cleaning and mopping to get the smell away. He had a little drink of water and sloped off to have a sleep. I was hoping that was that but I came downstairs this morning to a few patches of runny poo on the living room rug. He's clearly not well, poor thing, and have told DH to ring the vets. But what do I use to clean the rug? I don't want to use anything harmful to him, but neither do I want a smelly rug for Christmas.

You can get specialist cleaning products. They're like carpet cleaners with a built in brush

Pet enzyme solution - you can get it off Amazon or in big supermarkets.
