Non-subscription Cat Food Recs Please

Can anyone recommend a good quality (non expensive) cat food that I can just purchase as and when I want. And which offer small sample packets as my cats are the fussiest on the planet!😻

(Please don’t recommend any subscription based companies because that is an instant no thank you from me).

thanks!

Maybe check out the grain-free foods on ZooPlus? Feringa perhaps?

Lily’s kitchen is high in protein, no sugars and available in wet and dry, my kittens like it, I did lots of research because like you I didn’t want a subscription and this was the best I came up with.

I’ve tried them on Lily’s Kitchen - still have some in back of cupboard, and I keep trying it periodically but they just turn their nose up at it. Very fussy unfortunately.

Mine likes Hi Life-good quality ingredients and nice texture. Iused to feed her Animonda Carny from Zooplus but in the end a bit rich for her (100% meat and organs). She also likes Gourmet Perle Gold which I get from the supermarket but I don’t think it!s as good quality as Hi Life. Hi Like sachets are small though. Meowing Heads is a hot too and sachets are large-100g so can split them. We feed her dry food too-on recommendation from vet we’re feeding Science Plan Dental. She’s not keen on it so eats it reluctantly. But Scumbles Dry Food was wolfed down.

weve tried most of those brands but I will check out Meowing Heads - haven’t heard of that one. Thanks for this.

So wish manufacturers or shops offered small samples to try as buying a whole trial box is costly if the kitties keep turning their noses up at it.

My fussy cat likes James Wellbeloved kibble and it seems to suit her well.

She gets the senior one now.

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 10/12/2024 20:00

Catofhate is on Arden Grange light biscuits.

StressedEric · 11/12/2024 21:14

sainsburys delicious sachets are £7 for 10
and grain free . Harringtons are grain free but lower meat percentage.
my lot like applaws kibble

tinkitonki · 12/12/2024 16:31

My kitten loves the Applaws pouches in broth and the kibble

Mine is suddenly being fussy after being quite happy on Felix AGAIL and Thrive biscuits (an attempt to counter the crap in Felix). She was at the vet last week for jabs and check up and pronounced fine but fat by the vet, teeth OK etc. But since then she’s gone off the Felix a bit and is refusing the Thrive biscuits completely. Bought Purina Bifensis (what she came to me on) and she chomped those down last night but has ignored them since.

Also tried:
Lily’s Kitchen tins - ate a few but then refused (don’t blame her, they smell awful)
HiLife chicken pouches - not fussed
Blink pouches - not fussed
Gourmet Perle pouches - OK but didn’t like some flavours
Felix Tasty Shreds - acceptable with a Likelix garnish
Felix Deliciously Sliced - acceptable (for now)

At this rate the local hedgehogs will be doing well over the winter with all her cast-offs.

ProbableDoris · 13/12/2024 18:38

Forgot to add:

Scrumbles tins: tolerated
Scrumbles biscuits: tolerated for a while then became unacceptable

Ironically the vet told me to just feed her biscuits but she just wouldn’t eat them. She likes a mix of wet and dry and I don’t blame her.

I buy good quality dry food, purizon from zooplus which cat loves.
Wet I buy sheba fresh and fine, not good quality but I hope the good dry food out weighs this.
Also has tins of Tilly and ted, better quality from Asda.

HappyHolidai · 14/12/2024 09:12

Mine love Rosie's Farm.

dementedpixie · 14/12/2024 17:43

My 2 eat a mix of thrive and encore dry

They are fussy when it comes to wet food
In the cupboard we have a mix of sheba fine flakes, gourmet perle in jelly, felix tasty shreds and felix deliciously sliced, gourmet nature's creation in chicken/turkey flavour.

They still sometimes turn their noses up at my offerings and always refuse to eat the expensive high meat wet foods
