Cats outside in winter

My cat seems to want to spend most of his day outside despite it being 1C today! He'll just be in a little loaf shape outside looking sorry for himself and then when I open the door to let him in he just ignores me!

Do they not feel the cold?!

He doesn't care for the rain though saying that!

We have snow just now and our cat is FURIOUS. He wants to go out, but doesn’t want to go out, because it’s too cold. I had a Teams meeting this afternoon and he wanted out five minutes before it started, then sat at the kitchen window shouting at me throughout - actually tapping the window with his paw like a little ghost in a film.

Our previous cat toileted outside, and would have rather burst than use one of the three litter trays situated in the house for her convenience. We would have to dig over a patch at the back of the garden where she went, and clear the snow for her to do her business, and carry her out. She would then make her own way back in, provided we had also cleared a “path” for her to walk on. She would not go out to the back via the cleared path, only in. It was really fun that Beast From The East year.

Aw bless her! She is well camouflaged in the snow!

She was the absolute best girl - we had to have her pts (bastard cancer) aged ten this year, and we miss her so much.

My cats seem to turn into wrestlers when it snows! They love each other really 😹

My fluffy cat seems to love cold weather. Snow is fantastic because she treats it like soil and digs a little hole in it to go to the toilet...fine for pee..

Our cat sits outside in the worst weather. She doesn’t mind the snow until it gets too deep then she refuses to go out until dh digs her a path because otherwise she will have to use the litter box which she will only use if she absolutely has to in deep snow and one bad storm with gale force winds.

Finlay is too young to have seen snow yet - I will be very interested to see how he reacts
Cold doesn’t seem to bother him but he hates heavy rain and miaows at me to turn the wetness off for him

@JaceLancs it was about this time last year that Louie and his brother were taken in by the lady whose shed/garden they were in. He would have been ten months old - I can’t bear the thought of him out in these temperatures! I imagined him racing about in the snow when it came, but absolutely not. He’s lying upside down in his bed by the radiator now, and last night got to sleep in our bed as a treat. (Defo not tonight, it wasn’t a treat for us at 4am when he thought it was breakfast time)

One of our cats wouldn't go outside this morning. She decided to WFH.

I definitely don't blame her! It's been absolutely freezing today 🥶
